Alif has just been appointed as a new director of the national company he works for. Many of his friends and his staffs who work at the same company congratulate him.
Questions:
According to you, how would they congratulate Alif? How would Alif respond? Will their staffs compliment him? How would they compliment Alif?

                   I.          Read these two dialogues and answer the questions.
Dialog 1
Rahel        : Hey, Daniel! How was the economics competition?
Daniel      : Thank God, we did. Fortunately we succeeded to get the first place.
Rahel        : Wow! Congratulations on your team success!
Daniel      : Thanks, Rahel. So, how about you and your team in astronomy competition?
Rahel        : Unfortunately, I and my team didn’t get the first place. We got the third place but I
                      was really happy since we had won over many other teams and gone that far.
Daniel      : You and your friend did it very well. Congratulations on your great success.
Rahel        : Thank you very much for saying so, Daniel. We still have to learn more to be the
                     first like your teams did.
Daniel      : Cool! Let’s fight for the next competition!

Setelah melihat contoh kartu ucapan selamat di atas, maka kini giliranmu membuat kartu ucapan selamat atau mencari kartu ucapan selamat di internet dan tempelkan pada bagian kosong di bawah ini dan identifikasi. Misal: Who is the sender? Who is the receiver? Why does the sender send the card? How does the sender congratulate him/her?









Jika tidak ada kesulitan berkaitan dengan ungkapan-ungkapan memberi ucapan selamat, lanjutkan pada Kegiatan Belajar 2. Pada Kegiatan Belajar 2, berkaitan dengan complementing others.

Dhanny : Not much. I had it painted with a brighter color and add some new accessories.

Jane   : That’s a cute T-shirt you’re wearing.
Sarah                : I appreciate your compliment. It was a birthday present from my mother.
Jane   : Where did your mother buy it?
Sarah                : My mother said that she had bought it for me when she was in Singapore

Dialog 3.
Andy had passed on his final semester test. On the way home, he meets Dean, his friend. She congratulates and compliments Andy.
Desi   : Hi, Andy. How are you doing?
Andy : I am fine, thanks.
Desi   : It’s very nice to meet you here, Andy. You look great today! I love your new hair
               style.
Andy : Thank you very much, Desi. You look great, too.
Desi   : Thanks, Andy. By the way, how was your test? Have you got the result?
Andy : Yes, I’ve got it. You know what? I have passed for the final test. I’m so happy right
               now.
Desi   : That’s great. Congratulations! How’s the score?
Andy : Thanks God. I got the highest score for the test.
Desi   : Wow, that’s amazing. I know you are very smart, Andy. Well done!
Andy : Thanks for your compliment, Desi. You are so kind.
Desi   : Never mind Andy. It’s my pleasure.

Dialog 4
Mr. John  : You look really nice today.
Danny       : Thank you, Sir. I just got this outfit the other day.
Mr. John  : Really, where did you get it?
Danny       : I got it from Macy's, Sir.

Setelah menyelesaikannya Kegiatan Belajar 1, 2, dan 3, dapatkah Kalian memberikan contoh permasalahan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari yang penyelesaiannya menggunakan ungkapan memuji tersebut?
